Chuck MacFarlane is Chief Executive Officer of Otter Tail Corporation and has served in this role since April 2015. He guides corporate strategy, leveraging his wide-ranging management experience, insight into the corporation’s culture and his deep understanding of our diversified business model.
Prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer, Chuck served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the corporation from 2014 to 2015. From 2003 until 2014, Chuck led Otter Tail Corporation’s electric utility, Otter Tail Power Company. Before joining Otter Tail Power in 2001, he worked for Xcel Energy.
Chuck earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of North Dakota, and his master's degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas. He also is a graduate of the University of Chicago – Booth Executive Program.
Chuck serves on the Boards of Directors for Otter Tail Corporation, the University of North Dakota Alumni Association and Foundation, Edison Electric Institute and Lake Region Healthcare Corporation Board of Trustees.
